Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Funny, when I've had mine wear holes in my shorts it's been the ends of the strap running around the saddle rails that's been the culprit. My solution has been to use electrician's tape to secure the ends to the rest of the strap.

I have a Scicon Phantom 230, love it! very small and light, tucks really tight to the seat. kind of expensive and hard to find, but I think it's worth it.

I use Jandd Tire bag for 1 tubular, and mini tool kit, C02 cart and valve.
it's a bit tight but works well.
Jandd also markets a kickflix (?) system which uses no velco somewhat similiar
to the Fizik system.

My current bag is old and far too large. I also have thigh rub with it and want to eliminate that.

Do those of you using the bags with clip/straps on just the rails, does the bag bounce around make noise all the time while riding?

I'm trying to get a bag without the seatpost strap to avoid shorts rub and since my current bag strap is scratching up my nicely finished seatpost. I'm just wondering if the rail-only secured bags rattle constantly.

euro trash and Mister 2 are spot on. I freakin' love the SciCon bags. I have both the 230 and 430cc versions. A quick flick of the wrist, and it's on or off the bike.

That's a good looking bag. I was wondering if you find your legs rubbing against it? Is it narrow enough not to interfere with your ride? Thanks

I ended up with an Arundal Dual bag for the tube, CO2 and cell phone. I am learning to live with the tirelever, allen wrenches, house key, ID and cash in a zip lock in my jersey pocket.

What are the dimensions on the bag?

I also like the Topeak aero wedge. I have this one.

Being able to clip the bag on / off easily is really nice. I carry my bike on my hitch rack, and it is nice to be able to pull the bag off really easily to stop anyone from messing with it...

Why don't you put everything in your jersey pocket, and use the more compact compressed air?

I like the Cannondale Velopods, especially the small Micropod (20 cubic inches). It holds a lot of stuff (tube, tools, 3 CO2, etc.) fits almost out of sight under the saddle and is pretty much waterproof.

The Novara bags sold by REI are quite nice. I have both the micro and small versions. They attach to the saddle rails with a quick release system not unlike a lot of other bags, but what I really like about them is that they unzip along the side of the bag so you can get to anything easily without having to dump everything in the bag onto the ground. They're cheap too. I think I paid $12 for the micro, which is big enough to hold a tube, one CO2, multitool, levers, patch kit, chain links and a little cloth for wiping my glasses.

Because sometimes you ride while wearing something besides a jersey?

Love the Pedro Blow out bag. Medium fits just enough: tube, patch kit, levers, spare $ and gel.

I've been happy with this one from Trek. It clips onto a quick release, and the front velcro loop is unnecessary and can be kept behind the post or even cut off.
