Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

HRM not working, so I was unable to join this 28 km Zwift race that I was kind of excited about. Why? There were only two other entrants... Unless there is a huge fitness disparity, these can be kind of fun and tactical.

Not sure what to do now, wanted some time squeezing my legs. Might just find the A bot ad cruise for a half hour, maybe attack the group a couple times if I'm not in any difficulty.

I'll mention it in the feedback thing which I assume they'll send. Who knows if anyone will actually read it.

In the summary it says we "discussed" the risks of several different side effects. In reality, she asked me if I had a heart condition/seen a cardiologist or been diagnosed with a GI condition. That was pretty much it.

I imagine the risks are quite low, but she really glossed over that part, contrary to what the care summary suggests.

Just bizarre. The comments says you get low gear by pedaling backwards.

Attacked 'em 10' in and stayed OTF for the next 20'. "Flat Route" course, so I thought I would get caught by the group (of ~12) on the long downhill of Ocean Blvd. Hard for a smaller guy like me to stay ahead of a fast rolling group, but I stuck it.

Pre-ride weight a bit high this morning, 147 lbs. I have a couple easy days coming up so I will probably watch the snacking a bit and focus on quality nutrition, portion size etc. Realistically though I'm not super worried about it - this is normal for me.

Pre-surgery, I would normally live in 145 - 147. After the hernia op (early Jan.) I lost some muscle and got used to seeing 143 - 145 lbs, which was nice I guess, but that's not normal or healthy for me. I was weak.

Difficult patients are defined as those who elicit strong negative emotions from their physicians. If not acknowledged and managed correctly, these feelings can lead to diagnostic errors, unpleasant confrontations, and troublesome complaints or legal claims.

Possibly the best part of this report is her telling people they don't need to keep calling 911. LOL

Yeah, I've never ridden a retrodirect myself, could be a good workout, weirdly working out different muscle groups by pedaling backwards, kinda like doing a lot of resistance braking on the ol' fixie but more of it potentially.

Back at work after a long weekend visiting our son in Eugene, OR. Yesterday, we drove to the coast, had lunch in Florence, and then drove south to explore the Oregon dunes, which is a new area for us. As always, the Oregon coast never disappoints with its beauty.
