Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody ever ride there road bike on the Vancouver Seawall bike path?

We are planning on going to the Vancouver Seawall soon and was wondering if my road bike would be o.k. for that type of path? I have seen on video's that there is a lot of mountain bikes as well as cruiser bikes doing the seawall. Can you let us know what to expect if you have done the ride. Thanks!

I would say you are fine. I have use my old Rossin on it. It is all paved, a few roots along the way. But no issues, other than crowds.

Enjoy.

Expect lots of people (cyclists and walkers). Don't expect to ride quickly as it can be very busy in the summer.

Personally, I would suggest riding on the road around Stanley park and walking the seawall. Riding on the seawall seems like it would be an exercise in frustration to me.

I ride there all the time on my Defy and it has been fine. The scenery is spectacular and the crowd really does not bother me

OP, if you're a serious roadie, do this, then over the Lions Gate Bridge to do some climbing that locals call the Triple Crown: Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain, and Mount Seymour.

Its like the same thing as Seattle's Greenlake which no serious rider would ever do unless its for people watching.
