Suspension forks and calcium

Has anyone heard about needing to wipe down your suspension fork if you're riding in streets where there's calcium? - usually from the winter months.

Leave it on there - it helps the fork maintain its enameled finish.

Check your fork for slime while you're at it.

If you read your fork manual, it says you should wipe the stancions down after every ride and occasionally lube your wiper seals.

Wipe it off after you ride, and lube the seals occasionally.

calcium? off streets? only ever thought of this riding chalky places (uk south downs & coast for example), in some places, chalky puddles get very slippery, but the stuff gets on yer bike & is very hard to shift, it dries on like paint. you literally have to chip it off.
