Can you ride up Mt Lemmon while you are there? It's on my bucket list.

The longest one I can find on the East coast is Whiteface, which is 8 miles at 8%. I suppose Mt Washington is tougher, but that's closed to bicycles except for one day/year.

Last day off of my brief vacation. I was on the verge of maxing out accrual, AND 5/6 of my group departed on Monday, so it seemed an opportune time. I was gonna do a lot of mid-day, midweek riding, but Tuesday and Wednesday it rained, so I ended up putting in virtual miles. Yesterday, I took Rango for a walk, because he was giving me this look:
And when we got back, I was really sleepy, so I took a nap and missed the window for riding without having to deal with school traffic on the Alameda de las Pulgas, which should really be called Alameda de las Escuelas e Iglesias.
So today I did a 34 mile ride to Woodside and back. It's funny - in the last 2 years, I've been riding so much that what was basically a Z1/Z2 ride for me was faster than previous rides on the same route where my HR was much higher. I headed out in knee warmers, base layer and LS jersey, and a vest. Took the vest off 7 miles in when the sun briefly peeked out from behind the clouds, but 5 miles later it became clear that was just a fluke, so I put it back on. Y'all Back East would probably think I'm a wimp to dress up so much for the actual temps, but hey - cut me some slack! I'm on the cusp of Old!

We were here 8 years ago and I remember that. We have a ride tomorrow starting at 50° and last time we were here, we didn't wear tights because it felt warmer.

I believe Thunder Ridge, in southern Virginia, beats Whiteface. I could be wrong of course.

Great ride today. Same route as Wed. but only 223 meters climbing. 568 on Wed. It still gives me a 5.8% grade and I'll be damned if I know where that might be. Perhaps a particularly high tope.

I have a careless trainee who just got in to med school. I wrote him a ****** letter but it evidently wasn't ****** enough and I feel bad. Guy's got a good chance of hurting people.
I think a big part of his problem is mild autism spectrum disorder, but I had a flagrantly autistic student for a couple of summers who will make a great and passionately devoted, if unusual, doc if the admissions folks can get past the weirdness.

Slow night, everyone must be prepping for the big game tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the Owls are on the road at Tennessee-Martin and no TV is available.

Agree and he makes specific corrections after his behavior is explained to him. However, he doesn’t seem to generalize or assimilate the underlying messages. That’s 100 on him and I get the impression that he’s been coddled all his life for being smart and never faced real consequences. The other kid was so “different” that they knew professional life as a series of scripts they had to follow and it worked pretty well. They had amazing insight into their differences and was very open about it.

I need some 11S Shimano chains to replace the three fake ones I got from ScamBay.
I bit the bullet and ordered three from from Jenson USA at $37 each. I am thinking the chances of getting counterfeits from them is low.
Sigh.

This is about a mile west of where it happened. This happened last Saturday and I just saw this today. Good story.
I took this photo on Thursday.
