Repurposed Campagnolo freewheel tool

I've had the Campagnolo freewheel tool for years, and have yet to own a freewheel that matches the insert that came with it (TBH I don't even know what insert, but I've never had anything that matches)

Fired up the Valteri Bottas Pinkbike podcast in my garage, and was finished with mill and lathe by the time it was over.

Freakin' awesome

I have the tool, too, but I also have a single Campy freewheel left, so I keep the tool around. But if I ever get rid of the FW, I know who to see about modifying my Campy cassette lockring remover!

Good show.

The unmodified Campagnolo #704 tool fits Regina-style two-slot freewheels with five or fewer sprockets. The #704/1 "reducing insert" is required for Regina-style two-slot freewheels with six or more sprockets.

BTW, nice mod. Keeps an otherwise obsolete tool useful.

That tool won't work on an actual Campagnolo freewheel, as those use a unique helical, two prong remover. In a similar vein, I have a Bicycle Research CT-9 helical prong remover and Park BBT-5/FR-11 cassette lockring remover mounted in my Park FRW-1 tool handle:
