Since my friends hang out here, I am posting this question here
You may have noticed my extensive and extreme whining about not being able to have an avatar. My pitiful cries have reached the upper echelons, and it has been suggested that if I change my 'name' to eliminate the '.', that I MIGHT be able to have an avatar. There is no guarantee, and further, once my name is changed, I can not have my old one back. No more 'Ed.' period.
So, my question for you (it would be nice to make this a poll, but I don't see that option), do you think of me as:
a. Ed
b. Eddot
c. Edperiod
Now the problem with 'a' is that, I believe, it is already taken.
I encourage alternate suggestions.
This is not to say that I'll shed my current moniker for the sake of a avatar, but maybe.

I don't understand why you can't have an avatar? If you have a paid subscription it is part of it. I must be missing something.

I can't understand why the period prevents you from having an avatar, but I'll take your word for that. You may also be able to add some other random punctuation, other than the dot/period thing. One forum member's user name starts with a hyphen or something.

I have a dot in mine and it doesn't block the handsome avatar of mine. However, Edvald Boasson Hagen is a good new username.

EdTheFred would be a great screen name. Especially if you're a Fred.

Being an existing member (as opposed to a new member picking a name for the first time), you have the ability to browse the member list and see what names are already taken. Your name sits on page 38 of the "E" list, among a zillion other ed's of various forms. Yes, there is someone named Ed without the period. (Lots of other guys end somehow with a period, too!) No need to start a new profile. The admins have the ability to go into your profile and change your name to any name you choose that is not already being used - I know this from my own experience as an admin on another forum that runs on VBulletin.
Two names that are available: Just Ed and ItsMe Ed
