My pocket Rocket came with the handlebar tape double wrapped. It seems pretty nice.
I had been experimenting with a little extra padding on other bikes, but then I've started riding on the hoods a bit more, and perhaps it isn't necessary.

I wrap the top of my bars with used innertube under the bar-tape, so the tops look like mr balloon man above, but the drops look regular.

I have solid rubber grips on my MTB. Inner tubes for grip tape don't sound too bad; you could even get them thorn resistant for extra softness.

I followed the auction site link for the comparable sale, and yes, it was Budget Bicycle Center. As if the Bridgestone Tax isn't bad enough over here.
[h=2]1992 Bridgestone XO-2 59cm - $800 (Austin, MN)[/h]1992 Bridgestone XO-2 59cm
This bike is in very nice shape and is all original with the exception of the tires and pedals. I just added the MKS Sylvan Stream pedals last fall. I wish I could keep it but it's too tall for me. I have owned many bikes and this is one of the best riding bikes I have been on. Very quick and versatile. It would make a great commuter or even a gravel racer. The moustache handlebars allow for more hand positions and are very comfortable. The biggest cosmetic blemish on the bike is a stain on the right fork leg where a speedometer sensor had been mounted. Another XO-2 recently sold on eBay for $620 and it was in pretty rough shape. Here is a link to that bike.

Here is another link to the 1992 Bridgestone catalog which includes specs and sizing.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

When I'm near finished on a build I install sections of old inner tube on the bars (one piece above each lever, one below) and a custom cut section over the brake lever body. I can then ride the bike like that for a while as I fine tune the bar settings and where the brake levers need to be. Then I pull off the inner tubing and wrap the bars and install proper hoods.

I think I'll have to zip-it on the Stoker jokes
The box looks well made, although I would have done a single crank build.

"We hit 28 mph on the bike and it was really stable."
At first this seemed really terrifying but then I realized it's basically a trail-a-bike with an off-nominal hitch geometry.

It might be worth $75 for a "test ride".
I hope the coupling is secure. Perhaps this would be an application for a "through axle" skewer.

Perhaps give it to your 10 yr old when you give him the first road bike... 3 sizes too large, hoping he will grow into it.
Actually, I have the seat post slammed to the lowest possible position on my Bike Friday... that might be perfect

Here is my Bike Friday Seatpost setup.
That post would be just PERFECT.
If anybody taller than me wanted to borrow the bike, I could say... sorry, I can't put the seat up any higher.
And if anybody shorter than me wanted to borrow the bike, I could say... sorry, I can't put the seat down any lower.

Re....Value of used bicycles,,,overpriced!!!
Re....Value of used bicycles,,,overpriced!!!
why in the world would anyone pay close to 1k for a 7 plus year old mid grade road bike........so many posts on this site do not understand the real value of these outdated used machines.......sorry folks but specialized....cannondale.....trek......fuji.....nothing spectacular here...... they depreciate the moment you walk out of the overpriced retailer to begin with........no low balling......ha ha ha... and you wonder why your bike just sits....and sits.......as you gradually lower your price......here is a great solution for you delusional overweight spandex team kit wearing uninformed..
if you search the old interweb you will find a few outlets that will give you a CLUE as to what the bike is actually worth,,,,,,,
enjoy the wind in your face fellow mashers
watchdog.........

And while I'm on the subject, why does the drive train seem to hit the pavement? Is it because North Americans are turning right frequently or being confronted with traffic from the left? In other words are English and Australian riders putting their bikes down on the left side in an accident? Can someone please do their Engineering Thesis on this?
