oh man, I ride Uvas almost every day when I'm home. It's a scary reality check every time I hear cyclist's getting killed in areas I ride.

It's a sad joke among cyclists, if you're going to kill someone, use your car. If your victim is on a bike, you'll walk. I wish people would give the same value to a cyclist's life as any other.

This almost happened to me today. I was riding downhill on Portola from Alpine towards OLH, this black Audi A4 was waiting to turn left, I thought OK, he's waiting for me to pass so I sped up, but for whatever reason he was waiting just long enough to cut me off going over 25 trying to pass another guy, I was already looking ahead, then fortunately this other guy yelled out "Watch Out."
I thought I was going to hit the ****er, I hit the brakes hard, slid sideways but kept it together with opposite lock and barely missed the rear right fender. Anyways, I felt such an adrenaline rush right after that I rode up OLH before it subsided, so I never actually thank the biker who saved me a world of pain, hopefully he's a member, Major Thanks, man.

A few decades ago white people could kill blacks without any fear of legal consequences in many parts of the U.S. The same now goes for motorists with regards to killing cyclists. Bike is the new black.

Wow. I grew up in Almaden and have ridden out past Calero and Uvas many times. Very sad to see this. I do remember a couple of cyclists were killed on Hwy 152 back in the late 1980's and I am pretty sure that driver went to jail for a year.
