Fork value?
Hello all,
I have a fork from a 21" Fuji I'd like to sell and want to get some idea of value before putting it on Craigslist. It has a 140mm steerer tube. It's in pretty good shape, with just a few nicks. It has chrome socks and a chrome crown.
What's a fair asking price, $20?

If the fork legs and steerer tube are at least made from Chrome Moly tubing and has a decent looking fork crown and in very good condition, 20 bucks sound too low, try $50 that for "Buy it now" with a "best offer" option.
Still a bit too low if the fork happens to be just high tensile, carbon steel. I'd start it out at 30 bucks with a best offer option too if it were such and in VGC.
But in the end, it will all depend on whether you can find a cyclist looking for that particular Fuji made fork, but you still do not want to just give it away if you do not want to.

Besides the picture to give us an idea of the condition, colour and features, there are a few other things that should be determined before you try selling it. It is hi-tensile steel, Valite or chromium-molybdenum alloy? Is it designed for 700C or 27" wheels? How much rake?

Yes, you need to post all applicable info. I sold a plainer, newer for recently for $40, but I had ALL the info (dropout to crown inside, width at top, rake, steerer length, amount of threading, etc.).

That fork is a rather generic product, likely made in bulk by Tange, used on many Japanese bikes of the day. $20 - $30.

I would say $20-30 also not a nice enough fork to have demand. This will basically only appeal to someone needing a replacement for a late 70's Japanese bike the same size and color.

i see pics like that and am instantly turned off.
if you don't have a nice wood floor or table, put it on a nice, clean sheet. natural lighting from a window helps too.

I took some more measurements.
dropout spacing 95mm
rake distance 60mm
axle to crown 390mm
steerer tube length 140mm
steerer tube diameter 25.4mm (1")
Weight: 780g
Do I need anything else?
And thanks for the advice on photography, I'll take some pictures on a hardwood floor.
