10 year goal met
As of this morning, I have reached my goal of 50000 miles from age 61 to 71, I hit the mark as I was pulling into my driveway on my Soma Smoothie. It was important to me to actually do it, to not find excuses for having not. I have had some health challenges the past 3 years that gave me some doubt, but I did it. I am not trying to compare myself with others, I know that many cyclists in my age group have ridden more miles, some, a lot more. For me, I know I had never before done even 25000 miles in a 10 year span. My biggest year was the year of covid, 2020, 8000 miles.
I am tickled and quite pleased with myself. I think I will stop tracking miles for the rest of the year.

Well done!
FWIW, you might take a month or two off, but I'd suggest coming up with a replacement goal. That's based on my own experience of hitting my "lifetime" (recorded) mileage goal, and then drifting somewhat aimlessly. Of course the ruptured disc didn't help... But "see how much further I can ride" isn't as motivating as "I want to ride another XXXXX miles."

Congratulations - on meeting your goal, for one thing, and for meeting such an ambitious goal, for another. It's definitely time for taking many bows.

After reading your post, I am gong to add a few miles to my usual training loop. Well done -- I try to get in less than half of that (2000 miles / year).

down for 30
Having completed my 10 year goal last week, I am now off the bikes for 30 days. I had a med procedure, Urolift, done on 7/13, was expecting 5-7 days of no riding, but have been put to rest for a whole month. I am feeling better today, but had been quite miserable until yesterday afternoon. That included a visit to the ER Thursday night, with extreme pain when trying to pass urine that felt like it had hot glass chards flowing within it. I had a few hours Thursday evening that got really bad, constant trying to urinate with excruciating pain. My sister took me to the ER about 10 pm, I was hooked up to a couple of IV,s, one with dilaudid, which starting giving me relief in a matter of seconds. A few hours later, with the spasms and pain gone, I was able to have a somewhat normal emptying of the bladder, I was sent home. Friday afternoon, after finally hearing from the surgeon's office, and no help from them, the intensity and frequency started to subside. Saturday was better, today was a big improvement, especially with a lot less pain. The urologist telling me I would "have some discomfort for a few days" was quite the understatement. Now, I just hope it helps with the issues it is meant to help, and I can get off a couple of meds. Follow up visit in mid August, hoping to be healed at that point, and released to get on the bikes.
I did start doing some maintenance on my bikes, taking it slow and easy. I replaced all the cables/housing and bar tape on my Soma Smoothie. I also cleaned and waxed it. The way I am working, it took most of the day. My other 4 bikes need only a basic clean and lube job. Since I cannot ride, I guess I will start going for walks tomorrow.
