Road bike crank arm length vs. track bike crank arm length

Any suggestions/advice on choosing crank arm length going from road bike to track bike? Currently use 175 on my road bike but have read that it may be best to go smaller with a track bike.

6'1", inseam close to 34.5" - road bike is 58CM

Looking for advice from those who ride both or went from road to track. Thanks.

Is this for the street or the velodrome?

No apologies needed, just getting more info.
Is this on a proper track bike or a road conversion? If the bike has track geometry (raised bottom bracket) you can probably get away with 175s on the street.

You might want to go with 170s either way.

We have similar inseams, within half an inch. I ride 175s on the road, and 170s on the track.

Cinelli Vigorelli 58cm I take it your inseam is smaller? Local shop had SRAM Omniums...I noticed they come in 172.5 also

I'm a bit shorter than you, yeah.

I honestly doubt you'd notice the difference in lengths. Pedal strike is really the only concern. I'd go with the 170s.

This^^

Buddy is 6'3" and rides 170s with a standard geo track bike and has no issues with pedal strike or anything.
