Selling 3 bikes or frames - Gitane, Nishiki, Vitus
Edited - Vitus has sold. The other two have a price drop.
Time to move some bikes out of the shop. I will be listing these for sale locally and would prefer local pickup. Located in central Washington state. Twist my arm and I could ship but life is extremely hectic right now so not sure how quick that turn around would happen. I only do Paypal. The Gitane and Nishiki were going to go to my son and daughter-in-law but I'm tired of waiting. Sorry for the poor photo quality - guess I should have taken them when it was a little lighter.
Nishiki Maxima - supposedly Colnago sourced frames and only came as a frameset. This is a true Frankenbike - Tektro levers, Shimano 105 shifters, 600 SIS rear derailleur (I'll be keeping the Suntour Sprint currently on it), Ultegra front derailleur and brakes and some cheap crankset. The prior owner put a center pull spacer on the headset before I bought it. Looks stupid but I never got around to changing it to something proper. Roughly 50/51 cm C-T-C so a tad small for me but I liked riding it. I'll be keeping the Turbo saddle and pedals. Frankly this is probably better as a frameset and build it the way you want it. $200 whole bike and $100 frameset.
1984 Gitane Sprint - Vitus 788 tubing, 52 cm. I really love this bike and for a long time it was my go to ride when I wasn't sure what to take out. But it's become an extra now as I have upgraded the stable. Original Stronglight crankset. Suntour Edge rear derailleur and Blue Line front derailleur. Original Weinmann brakes and Tektro levers. I'll be keeping the pedals and TT Tri Shock saddle. Currently running an 8 speed Sachs Aris freewheel. I also have the original Simplex derailleurs and Turbo saddle that say Bernard Hinault on them. $200 for the bike, $100 frameset
SOLD 80's Vitus 979 - 58cm. This is a fun one. It was my dad's bike but none of us kids are tall enough to really ride it safely. Back when these Vitus frames came out my dad really coveted one. So, when he bought it he shipped the frame to Chehalis WA to have it painted to look like his 84 Peugeot PSV so my mom wouldn't know he had a new bike. I know.... genius. Or living on the edge if she found out. This bike had a lot of miles put on it before 1989 when he moved to his Spectrum titanium bike. It's also a little of a Frankenbike - a few years back he went to a compact Origin 8 double and it's paired with a Simplex long cage rear derailleur. Modolo Speedy brakes, Campagnolo shifters, Mavic MA40 wheels and a Campagnolo front derailleur (he is a Campagnolo fan so the first rear derailleur was of that make - no idea where it is now.) The paint has patina and the cool thing is you can see the Vitus anodized red in places where it's chipped off. $300 for the bike or $150 for the frameset.

Cool story about the Peugeot. That Nishiki is a somewhat rare bird.

You mean Vitus.
That’s truly going above and beyond to add to the stable!
I talked to Dave Kirk this summer who had a customer request a certain color blue. Turns out the customer had a storage unit full of custom bikes painted the exact same color blue for the very same reason: stealth n+1!
When I saw “Gitane,” I feared that the TdF was going - phew!
GLWS, Scott! (Your kids are missing out!)
