Extreme pain - inner thigh below groin
I did a pretty hard sustained effort last week on a 24 miles route. The last 5 or so miles I experienced extreme pain in my inner thighs right below my groin. I pushed through to get the KOM, but could hardly walk as I got off the bike. It almost felt like it was bruised from pushing back into the saddle.
It's an old saddle I have used for years without any issues. However, I have recently swapped out my seat post and the saddle positioning may need tweaked. Any thoughts on what I can do to avoid the pain in the future?

Probably ride more often at or near that level of effort.
Is it a muscle ache or is it more like an ache in your bones? Or is it more like a muscle or tendon strain where you might have over exerted and damaged it temporarily?
If you were in hard gears at a low cadence then I'll always say get in easier gears at a high cadence.

It's entirely possible it was related to the effort as it has been some lighter weeks leading up to it. It felt more like bruising or strain of the muscle and tendon.
