Specialized Hardrock "vintage" touring?

Anyone tour on a hardrock from 2000 and older?

Just did a build..can't figure out how to post pics here yet..

Before after

Changed everything new headse, bottom bracket, shifters, brakes, while drive train...next is new rear wheel..the hub screw as stripped so I gotta get a new rear wheel for 8 speed..

Thanks I had thought about drop bars..but I had neck surgery a year ago and a bit nervous about drop bars now..I'll be adding trekking bars on Saturday I got the nashbar ones

i tour with flatter bars. lots of folks do. great looking paint job man!

NICE! Wednesday I get new shwalbes! Since this pic I added new pedals and have fenders but having an issue with the fork bracket thing going up far enough to get the bold through

I did some one-nighters and maybe a two-nighter, with rear panniers and a handlebar bag. A solid platform IMO, though I'd want more hand positions for a longer tour or long days.

I think other than tires and fenders it was pretty stock.

Here's my Rockhopper Comp tourer. North Roadbars, spd/flat pedals, ergo grips wrapped with cloth tape, etc.. I like it a lot!

This is what Ive done so far...I gotta get a front rack thatll fit without braze ons..and possibly a new rear wheel before I head out on a mini tour..but Im in no rush...

Got a rear rack and bag the other day. Need to get some longer eyelet bolts to fit it.

In your first pic, I was going to recommend raising the tube and handlebars, but looks like you've already done that. I can't believe how far back you were able to put the panniers. Looks good

Thank ya! Specialized stem from my hybrid..swapped it for one I had laying around stem riser is one I got off Amazon can't remember what it is lol

You guy's have me jealous! Guess I need to ante up and get a Brooks for the Rockhopper. Always thought one would be cool, just cheaped out!Added a rack this morning. Did a 20 mile history ride today......

I had a 1992 Stumpjumper. I loved that bike and today it would be a kickass tourer, but I lent it to a friend and it got stolen. I can almost forgive my friend, but I will never forget that bike.
