Canada-USA bike sales
I found an interesting bike on pinkbike, but it's in Canada, the seller is willing to ship, but I'm concerned about importation fees and paperwork.
Does anyone have experience bringing a $2k bike in?

Not sure you would have to pay? I can't say for complete bikes but I had Argon 18 in Canada ship me a new set of forks and a few other bits from their HQ in Montreal I think it was to SD. No issues, they used FedEx and I didn't pay anything extra besides for the parts or the shipping rates I was quoted. However I did pay a conversion rate difference on my credit card but I knew that was coming.
someone else will have to chime in but I don't know if there are any tariffs on a complete bike.

You might check with the C&V crowd as some of those guys buy and sell used bikes & parts globally.

If memory serves, there are three levels of duty for goods coming from Canada to the US:
1. Under $800 US - no import duty (duty free)
2. $800-2500 US - "informal" entry (some duty)
3. Over $2500 US - "formal" or "commercial" entry (more duty)
I plugged $2K into an online duty calculator and got $274.51 for personal non-business use, just to give you an idea.

Since I am not on the clock and this is a personal transaction not between a business, you could ask the seller if you can pay 800 Loonies for the bike (and have it declared as such) and the other 1200 Loonies separately in a different transaction.
However if you are at a legit retail business please do not ask anyone to do anything illegal like commit tax fraud or duty fraud and if you work at one printing two receipts to make claim the bike is cheaper is not legal and many of those people asking you to do it have the money and typically also don't pay taxes (diplomatic immunity: see video below) so they can afford to import that bike back to Brazil or Russia or wherever they might be from but you cannot afford to do anything illegal. You could lose your job and your shop could easily go out of business
