Might as well ask for a unicorn at this rate.
just getting into cycling and looking for a hybrid bike <1k-ish that can fit me.
the only ones I have seen so far that may fit the bill are the cannondale big boy and quick 3
or the trek fx3
given the time of year and current stock status, there are a total of 0 bikes available for me to actually try, so will likely need to buy something sight unseen for next year when the time comes.
any tips?
thanks guys
i searched for this topic and it seems the topics were a bit older so I’m wondering if there’s any new info.

Keep looking. I was at a shop a couple of weeks ago and they had two Trek FX1s in XL. Not what you want to ultimately buy, but a test ride on an FX1 should let you at least judge fit.
I guess I'm saying not to give up. A large bike shop should be able to find a surrogate that at least will give you an idea. I myself am waiting for a call for just this purpose. The FX3 I really want isn't expected in stock until April.

found a norco vfr online, barely used - may go for this as the measurements make sense
as a first bike I think I can't go wrong.
happy to hear anyone's opinion on any other bikes or if this one is inadequate
thanks again!

Don't know of any Norco dealers around here, but looked up the bike and specs seem in line with other mfrs. If it fits and is in good shape, should be OK. If you want, you could always look up the dealer network of the others you mentioned and call ones you consider within driving distance. And if you found one outside of driving distance, could have it shipped to a local shop. Of course, that is going to incur some additional expense, such as shipping, if you wanted the dealer you had it shipped to go over it (which isn't a bad idea). Have fun with a new bike, regardless of how it's acquired!

Another option is to start with a large frame (Surly, Soma, ...) and build it with a flat bar.
For example, a 66 cm Double Cross https://www.somafabshop.com/shop/pro...6?category=990

I am a steel bike fan due to the ride and these at 6'6" these are the 2 bikes I would buy. I have no idea what the availability is right now.
Breezer
KHS
I have a BMC Monstercross that I built up that works as my Hybrid and a older Trek 750.
What is your budget and where are you located?
