A great deal on a great bike.
I have a 1992 Rock and Road Tour. It rides and handles nicely unloaded with 30mm road tires, or carrying 40 lb. on 50mm tires on, pavement or dirt trails. No shimmies descending at speed. Mine has hubs and a bottom bracket with grease holes so regressing is a breeze.

Neat bike and my size. I was sorely tempted to buy one when they came out. This is a very capable touring machine.

Are those Avocet tires? I haven't seen those in a while but they were fine tires. I toured on a set across the US in the 90s.

What are the rims? They're Mavic but I can't tell which model. Will this take 38 mm tires and fenders?

What did you buy (if anything) in it's place? Here's life giving you a second chance to own a BG! It is a special machine.
They are indeed avocet 38s, and there is ample room for fenders.

Trust me the thought is crossing my mind about a 2d chance to own a BG Rock N Road, . I just picked up a lugged, early 90s Trek 750, though, which will also take 38s. . . . Not as nice as the BG but not a bad bike.

Those Avocet tires rocked.
