4-8 7.4 miles commuting
4-9 25.1 miles
4-10 6.8 miles commuting
4-11 4.7 miles plus an hour spin class at LBS with a couple of friends to Sufferfest Angles
4-12 11.6 miles, ride cut short due to impending rain and fatigue from new work schedule, then almost got home and realized I had not eaten lunch.
4-13 43.3 miles on a very windy day rode to Costco and met my wife there. Thought I would have the wind at my back most of the way but it did not turn out that way.

Off the bike for a week after the monster ride for two reasons. Firstly my legs ached for a couple of days, and then I realised I'd trashed my rear wheel during the ride. I was aware something was wrong but thought it was the brakes - it turned out one of the spokes had four cracks around the eyelet so the wheel was horribly out of true.
Now I've got my new Durano Plus tyres and a back wheel loaned to me by the LBS pending sorting out the parts to build a new back wheel, so took it for a test ride today. The D+ tyres are much faster than the old Marathon Plus (at 380g each compared to 800g each it's the weight equivalent of taking a tyre off completely). Brutal headwinds on the way out, nasty headwinds for some of the way back, but the short straight section where I had a tailwind saw me at 27mph without anything like the effort that speed normally takes.
April 1 - 6 miles
April 2 - 26 miles
April 6 - 129 miles
April 14 - 15 miles

4/14 - 27.60 LBS has a breakfast ride once a month. First one I've been too. Meeting a few more people is always nice. And to top that off they fixed the creek in the seat post after the ride.

April 14 = 16.04 miles. Beautiful day in Chicagoland today. To bad it's supposed to be cool and rainy all week.....again. I'm beginning to think Spring is never going to get here and stay here.
MTD = 168.37 miles.

Another ride that's nothing to really write home about but gets a few miles in. Headwinds were worse today than yesterday. Since a headwind is like a hill without a soul I decided to take in a few of the steeper local hills - none of them are very long but some of them get quite steep. A 10% incline into a force 5 headwind was an interesting experience. Coming down one of the hills I reckon the combination of my speed and the headwind meant the net wind must have been pushing 40-50mph or more. That was also an interesting experience.
Legs really not feeling good today, I think I'm slightly dehydrated. Annoyingly I poured a big glass of water to drink right before going out and while I was doing battle with the first incline I realised I never actually drank it. Oh well....
April 1 - 6 miles
April 2 - 26 miles
April 6 - 129 miles
April 14 - 15 miles
April 15 - 16 miles
MTD 192 / 347

Busy week since I last reported in. Managed to wrap up the rebuild on my daughter's Schwinn Traveler so we took it out for a short ride in the cold and drizzle on Friday night. Much better ride on Sunday to break her in to road biking!
4/12 - 3 miles at 11 mph (she had to get adjusted to the new riding position)
4/14 - 22 miles at 12 mph with 329 ft of climb. Had a strong head wind for half of the ride. Can't wait for the wind to settle down.
I'm actually planning on heading out for a bigger ride on Friday. I turn 39 this weekend so I want to ride 39 miles. Longest ride so far has been 21 miles. Should be quite interesting.
MTD 51.6/120
