Hailing from LA
I just got a bunch of help on the vintage&classic biking forum, and I think cycling is going to turn into a bit of a lifestyle in the next few months, so I might as well say hi.
I'm 23, on a perpetual budget, and totally disinterested in idling an engine in LA traffic. That said I was a public transit commuter before the move to this city, and my biking knowledge is on the kindergarten scale of novice. If I don't die in the first month of riding, I think this is only the beginning of a long and economical journey.
My hope is to use my newly purchased Raleigh Mixte for everything from commuting (7mi/day) to grocery shopping(~5mi/wk). I am currently in the process of setting my bike up to satisfaction (skirt fenders, lights, milk crate, possibly new tires) but I hope to be commuting in the next 14 days.
Along the road I expect a lot of help from my lovely new bicycle, my hex wrench set and all of you knowledgeable riders.
Thanks for having me, and see you in the bike lanes!
