Campy Gran Turismo Rear Derailleur Adjusment
Greetings All
Can anyone please assist me with info on how to adjust a Campy Gran Turismo Rear Derailleur? Installied on my 1971 Schwinn Super Sport.
In particular identifying which Limit Screws are which, High Adjustment & Low Adjustment, Etc.
I've searched the web for diagrams and reference pics but have not found anything quite yet.
Since this is my first post, I'm not permitted to upload photos to assist those assisting.

The upper screw is the low gear limit screw. The lower one is the high gear limit screw.

...good luck with it. I have never been able to get one of those to work well, so I just replace them with something that does. I think randyjawa was talking about installing and using one a month or two ago. Maybe if he sees this, he will magically appear and offer user advice based on experience. I haven't his fortitude.

I have a Gran Turismo on my desk. It weighs 2.1 Lbs without the claw hanger!
The pulley cage always reminded me of the Grim Reaper's Death Scythe.
Or... a Klingon Bat'leths...
Sorry for the snarky welcome to BF but those paper weights "don't get much respect" around here. As the late Frank Berto once said, they're SO strong that if something goes awry with a Campy Gran Turismo RD it will tear the dropout off before bending!
Good luck. If you are looking for originality then by all means go with the Gran Turismo. For performance, just about any long arm rear derailleur from the mid 1970's on will give better shifting...

It shouldn't be a problem if the actuation feels too heavy, Campagnolo advertised the Gran Turismo alongside a long-armed shifter that would offer plenty of leverage.

with the cable disconnected turn the high gear limit screw till the chain is running smoothly on the smallest rear cog.
now with the shift lever forward, connect the cable and CAREFULLY pull back on the lever until the chain is shifted onto the largest cog and set low gear limit screw to limit movement of the cage so that it shifts smoothly onto the large cog "and no more".

Step 1. Disconnect cable
Step 2. Unthread chain from jockey wheels
Step 3. Undo upper "C" bolt
Step 4. Attach a long chain to the upper "C" bolt
Step 5. Move derailleur to bow or anchor locker of your boat

I appreciate the great info and good fun fodder from you all - not only do I have the one on my Super Sport but I also have one on my drawing table just cause it looks great and could be used as a weapon if need be!
