How To Wear Cycling Gear?

It's only recently that I dug my bike from the garage to start riding again. I always used to just wear shorts and T shirts to ride. Normal clothing. I read about the benefits of wearing cycling shorts and jerseys when cycling to help with sweat. I still haven't had a chance to wear that stuff yet because I just got it. My research has led me to believe that I shoud wear nothing under the cycling shorts and jerseys. Makes sense to me.

My question is what to do in the colder months? Should I leave my cycling gear in the closet till spring? Should I wear my cycling clothes under some exercise pants?

Not a bad start. Also you might look into the Winter Cycling forum.

Love your neighborhood BTW.

You can add layers to keep warm. Pants or tights over the shorts. A base layer (wool is great) under the jersey or a jacket over it.

If you meant going commando under your shorts, I found that the pad works better if I have underwear on. Without it, the pad tends to wedge.

Then you've got the wrong pair of cycling shorts ... wrong size ... wrong sized padding ...

It is not advisable to wear underwear under your cycling shorts.

As advised ... check the Winter Cycling Forum for your winter cycling questions: https://www.bikeforums.net/forumdispl...Winter-Cycling

But in the winter, I wear my cycling shorts under cycling tights ... and my short-sleeved jersey under a long-sleeved jersey or two or three, depending on how cold it gets.

Correct, commando with cycling shorts/bibs. Wear undies with the shorts and you'll create problems.

I wear a wicking under shirt year round. Keeps me cool in summer, warm in cooler weather. When cold weather sets it. I just supplement the summer gear with knee/arm warmers and vest or jacket. Colder, I ride in sorta thermal knickers, long sleeve jersey gloves, booties and cap.
