colored cable housings

Does anyone know of a good source for colored shift and brake cable housing like they used in the 80's and 90's. I've got an SR Semi Pro with light blue housings that need replacing.

Try https://www.thethirdhand.com also know as Loose Screws. They have a nice selection of different colored cable housings. Good luck!

I remember how excited I was that my 1971 Nishiki came with black cable housings, when everyone else still had white. When I rebuilt the Capos, I had to scrounge around for white cable housing, which looks great on them.

yellowjersey.org has a ton of color. Not everything is pictured on the site, send 'em an email and they get back to you pretty quick.

You can also use something like Dupli-Color's Vinyl and Fabric paint to change the color of housings. Good coverage, and flexible enough not to flake off as the housing bends.

Cool idea. I wonder if it would work? Or have you tried that already?

Yeah, I've done it several times. That stuff works great on saddles, too.

The blue housings that Loose Screws sells is an electric blue like an old Ford Torino. I put some on my wife's silver mixte just to give it some color and it made it look like a Wal Mart bike. I took it off and threw it away.

I picked up a couple of NOS sets of Clarks complete cables and housing from banana brain on ebay. Color is a light metallic blue and cables are coated to match the housing. These appear to be high quality sets although I haven't installed them yet.

Sure wish there was a steady source for housing and matching bar tape in like 32 shades.

I hope it works better than the stuff I used on my '57 Ford 2 door Ranch Wagon. Of course, that was 40 years ago and they've probably improved it since then.

Nokon looks stainless but it's actually aluminum. Be prepared to spend MUCHO money though. They are expensive. Being an OCP will cost you big time. LOL
