Personally I can see it working better on the rear as opposed to the front.

Personally, I think it's a bit too gimmicky. I saw the video- the focus was clearly to showcase the laser, which is nothing but a "hopefully they see me" type of light. I'm sorry, but if I have one light, it has to be bright enough for me to see by and I think anything that is powerful enough to allow me to do so will wash out that laser.
Cats may become a problem, though...
