I bought one in a two bike bundle for….5$. It was the last few moments of a yard sale and the guy basically begged me to take them. The Aerowind is a novelty bike. It sat a year or so in my garage before I put it out by the road. It was perfectly intact with flat tires needing a simple inflation. This thing weighed 36lbs. That’s more than a Schwang Varsity.

Bikes: A Blue One and 2 Green One's, then there's the Yellow one. And oh, yeah, a Black One. Did I mention the Red One?

Huffy sure had a list of losers.
Their name alone is off putting.
We've received a couple of these AND several of the iron rear disc brake models from 76-77 at our co-op.
We stare at them for a few days, make fun of them for a few more till the scrap run, at which time they take their last road trip.
Unsaleable. Even the homeless people we give bikes to won't take them.

I’d buy it. I remember these bikes being sold at Target (the first year Target opened its stores in Southern California), and these were sitting in the sale rack outside the store (those were the days when retail theft was not the thing it is now). The Aerowind was different from anything else, and cool for that fact. There was no other bike I knew of which offered the Shimano AX groupset. Here in Japan I have seen some high-end bikes from the early 80’s with Dura Ace AX, like the 3 Rensho Katana, but they never made it to America. I have to give Huffy some credit for actually designing, making, and selling this bike, though the quality of its construction looked like it was made in a prison workhouse.

The price for the Aerowind at Target was around $100, or more than $300 in today’s money.

I just saw a local ad for one of these yesterday. Must have had a nondescript title as searching my history doesn't bring up a link. Maybe after another cuppa or two I'll have better luck and holler at AdventureManCO.

All praise coffee, liquid life, revitalizer of neural connections with a small assist from the FB algorithm which is guaranteed to reccomend the same ads over and over and over...
PM sent.
