About to buy a kilo tt stripper, but need advice!

hello all, after slaving myself all month ive finally saved up enough money for a kilo tt stripper! but there is only 1 problem, im in between sizes! ive tried doing as much research as i can about being in between sizes (especially for the kilo) but my question remains unanswered. so hopefully this will help.

so im 5'5'' and i just measured my inseam to be just about 29 inches. now the kilo tt in 44cm has a standover height of 28.5 inches and the 47cm has a standover height of 29 inches.

now i know that there should be generally 1-1.5 inches of clearance over the top tube, so what would you advise me to get? a bike w/ about half an inch of clearance or a bike w/ little to no clearance?

also i read on the kilo tt thread that the 44cm's geometry is all screwed up because of the small size? i.e. the frame is smaller but the wheels are the same size as on the other kilo tts.

if any one has the 44/47cm kilo your input would be great! as well as the shorter folk who have the same inseam size as me. i plan on buying it asap so as soon as i decide what size ill buy lolz.

thanks in advance! for helping a fellow n00b rider

I'm with Adriano. A 47 would probably fit you. The standover height is a dumb measurement and I don't know why BD says that it's important on their website. It's really more about TT length (so I've heard).

if you have longer legs and short torso/arms, then top tube is the limiting factor.
if you have shorter legs long torso/arms, then standover is the limiting factor.

get measured/fitted and then you'll know which category you belong to.

I agree most with this. Even though a Kilo runs a bit bigger than other frames because of the way they are measured, I think a 47 will be slightly too small. Bikes that are too small end up being an uncomfortable nuisance.

ok i just measured myself right now. my torso length is about 27inches. my inseam is 29inches. so from the looks of it i have longer legs so the top tube should be my deciding factor?

just to make sure we're on the same page, by "47cm" you mean the size that has a 47cm(c-c) with a 50cm(c-t) right?
