Started my ride at 05:30 with the temp at 30ºF and dark and ended the ride with the temps at 27º. Did 36 miles--I should've done 40 or more, but 36 is good too.

8.3 miles (8 is my current goal when I ride)
We were supposed to have snow after midnight last night but there was none on the ground when I got up so I assume none fell.

This is my sixth ride on my Christmas bike and I already can tell a difference. The first ride I was gearing way down for slight elevation inclines but now I am staying in higher gears and not feeling like I'm bogging down or having to expend that much more energy.

Bikey Mikey, I'm going to quit posting right after you. You make me look really bad.

I poached some more of the Louisville Loop, poaching referring to riding on as of yet unopened trail. They've extended it on down to the Pope Lick trestle.

Whats going to be weird is that this is exactly where the Goat Man lives. For people who think I'm making this stuff up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Lick_Monster

I imagine the government has bought him off and given him some very generous pension. I'm sure he deserves it. It would not be good for the city to lose occasional cyclists to the Goat Man.

Only got in 18 miles today. I guess we are finally Floridians......the temp was too cold in the 50's. Hell back in Maine 50 this time of year is beach weather.

We must have his cousin living in Wylie. In fact, the road (paved now, dirt when I moved here) he haunts is known better as "Goatman Road" than by its actual name and he usually picked on couples parked there to discuss the future of their relationship.

Sarge,
You don't look bad at all, your commitment to keep riding seems to be sticking pretty well. Good for you on the rides.

I got in an afternoon ride, the temps finally broke 50*F at about 1400 so I got kitted up at 1430, felt pretty good actually, very little wind and that was out of the NNE. Saw a runner out, she looked surprised when I waved and said goof afternoon, Mam. Got a smile and a wave back though. Supposed to rain tomorrow so I didn't want consecutive days off and if it doesn't rain I am still in the plus column for great days on a bike this year.

I was too old to park out there to discuss relationships when I moved here but he seems to match the description given by teens.

Tried to get a ride in today but it's been raining and drizzling since sometime last night. Hope to have a better day tomorrow as this first week of this year isn't starting off so good.

That's what kept me off the bike on New Years Day and the following day as well. Got my first ride for the year yesterday.

Unless I get caught in it, I'm not one for riding in the rain. I was with EMS/FD for 25 years and whenever it rained, I had to work in it when I was on shift. Made me hate being outside in the rain for any reason.

I had just done a good cleaning of the bike, cassette, and chain the night before...no way was I going to re-clean the chain and cassette the next day. I never go out when it's raining or if there's a high chance of rain, or if the roads are so wet that the tires will kick up a ton of water. I usually am lucky enough to get my 5 to 6 days/week rides(crosses fingers and sacrifices an old inner tube to the cycling Gods.).

Okay, I'm posting before I whip myself with an old dingy inner tube. I have no idea why, but I just didn't have it in me and wussed out at 24 miles. But, at least I rode.

I need to catch up;

New Years Day, a 19 mile ride in 1:30 on the Monstercross bike with the studded tires.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/256789050

Today a quick 17 mile ride in 1:07 on the Road Bike. Snow began right as I arrived home.

13.98 conditioning miles on the hills on the steel '96 hybrid. Temps at 38, zero wind (although predictions were for stiff 14-18mph winds - didn't happen). It was great working up a drenching sweat. Later treated myself with a visit to my favorite bike shop for some new biking shorts...and to let hubby drool over the newest cycle models on display.

Got 37 miles in riding in the Oakland hills with our local riding group. 16 riders started out, but some turned back when the temp dropped to 50. Almost inhumane riding conditions at that point, but the rest of us pushed on to the coffee shop. No pie was to be had, but the did have some good blueberry muffins. I'm not sure how well my conditioning plan is going to prepare me for my first century of the year, but I am sure having fun!

Got a good 30 mile ride with my buddy Frank on his N+1, 2012 Trek Madone 5.2 Ultrgra. It was the bike's maiden ride so we didn't go very fast while he was trying to get used to it.

About 49f Sunny day today
8.6 miles....my usual route which is getting a little boring. I may try the Chaparral Rails to Trails (Farmersville-Paris) one day next week....but not the two it is supposed to rain, probably Monday before the rain. I will try to do the paved portion (2.5 miles) twice each way. Depends on the weather.

You are an encourager, Dudelsack, and I appreciate it. Lots of encouraging folks on here in the fifty+ area. And, if I understand it correctly, the N+1 thought appeared a few days after my wife bought me this bike. You may have noticed that it is a "low entry" model. I wasn't flexible enough to properly get on one with a bar. But when we decided to buy this one my wife said that once I lost some weight and rode some to increase my flexibility, I could always get another one. So the fever is mostly dormant right now but......
