having a couple newb issues here...
The bikesdirect site doesn't really offer many specs of these bikes...
Looking to replace the stem, and see that many are sized 1-1/8" which is a strange notation to me... and I know that we have a 1" stem. Will this size fit our steer tube or will it be too big?
Also, how long is our stem in mm? Looking for something slightly shorter.
Thanks.
edit: also what is the drop angle of the stock stem?

^^^
You'll need a shim to step a 1-1/8" stem down to 1". Thomson makes these. The stock Kilo stem is 110mm long. The angle is 6*, IIRC.

jaywhy - looks fast and slick. Is that one of the stock colors w/ decals removed, or a custom paint job?

Your bike looks nice and clean jaywhy. Didn't know BI had that blue. Love quill stems but always found bullhorns uncomfy with a larger negative rise. Different strokes though.

i know, i almost pulled the trigger on some b123s but i feel comfortable riding on the flat part, accelerating with the horns and definately climbing with the horns is much easier. it just feels right to me

Can the newer Kilo be converted to the older threaded fork? Im trying to build a vintage style bike and the threadless stem is killing the look.
Was thinking of getting the Soma chrome fork and switching over.

I think the frameset has a partially threaded fork but the complete doesn't.

But it's not threaded enough to actually use it for a threaded setup. You would have to get threads cut in the fork steerer tube.
It may as well not be threaded at all.
But I agree that they need to sell it with the option of a threaded fork.
