Are there grips that extend from the horn all the way into the flat of the bar? If not, what are my options for grips (not tape) on my bullhorns?

So then I would have a grips on the ends and tape on the flats? Seems like a poor option.

I've seen people cut holes into the ends of oury grips, then wriggle them all the way over the bar until they're butted up against the stem. I guess you could stack a few pairs of those on there and you'd have your bullhorns all covered up.

Or two sets of track grips, with the ends trimmed where they join to fit the exact length you need. If done correctly, it looks really clean. My wife's been doing this for quite a while now.

I used to ride with track grips on the ends, left the flat bare. It worked fine, but I do not use bullhorns anymore.

Just tape up the whole bar if you want it to look clean.

i f'in hate when i see bars like that. Not only are they using an incredibly impractical bar for street use, they negate the entire point of those bars, it looks awful(i'm also assuming they use track drops on the street for fashion so it further negates that), and they're gonna take a core sample from their knee in a crash one of these days.

Edit: i guess on second look those bars are plugged. but it still looks stupid.

Double edit: I looked at the other pictures of that bike on his flickr and i kind of feel ill now.

beatifik comes in for the win! Some folks simply prefer the feel of grips over tape and there's nothing wrong with that (I know I do).

I'll be sure to inform the misses about those.

I prefer grips to tape simply because tape is too easily damaged especially when locking the bike up a lot. One little scrape in the tape and it deteriorates quickly into a full on unravelled mess.

Right now I'm using shellac'd cotton tape on my priest bars and it's a happy medium for me. I might try these weird rubber grips for winter riding because I fear that the shellac'd tape may be a bit slippery with gloves.

Yeah, I am having to experience this right now. I crashed twice last week, and my tape on the left side of the handlebar is ****ed at the moment. **** sucks.

ESI Grips ( https://esigrips.com/ ) will custom make their silicone grips into whatever length you need in either their MTB or Road bike diameters.

Last I talked to them, I think it was going to be around 25$ for a set to cover my Soma Sparrows...

I ran grips up top and tape on the horns on my bars, and I'm happy with the way they feel.

I like the feel of cloth tape. When I had bullhorns I had allcity grips on the flats and the horns were covered with cloth tape. Excellent.

suelo tubo or fly fino cut to length bmx grips, buy two, enjoy.

Edit: P.S. I prefer the finos because having flanged grips on pursuit bars is hilarious to me.

Just noticed that those are 30mm diameter and my bars have a 26mm clamp size, which would mean they are even a bit skinnier along where you would actually grip. Seems this grip is too big for my bars then, right?

I hate the way it looks, but it is durable.

actually the o.d. of bmx bars (i.d. of those grips) is 22.2mm, which is narrower than the o.d. of the gripping area of most road bars.

So, if I understand you, they will fit and actually be a bit tight?

Also, if these will work, whats the best way to install them? I would imagine once you get them on a bit, the surface friction against the bars would build up and make it really hard to keep pushing them onto the bars. Tips?
