(Dahon) Folding bike on a hitch rack?

I have a cross country move coming up, and we'll be driving a single car (packed to the gills), with a bicycle hitch rack on it for one full size bike.

I also have a Dahon Speed TR that I plan on taking with us. Ideally, I would move it inside the car, but if we're fully packed, I'm considering putting it on the hitch rack.

It looks like the wheel trays and top tube holder / clamp will work with the frame size, but has anyone done this over a long trip before? Are there any concerns with the tension and bumping affecting the hinge on the Dahon frame?

I'm attaching a picture of the bike and hitch rack for reference.

We have a Kuat hitch mounted rack. Kuat has a special adapter for their clamp arm intended for children's bikes. Works well with a 20" dahon.
