Rare 1971 Raleigh Super Course mens bike, Excellent Condition | road | Ottawa | Kijiji

That rare Reynolds 531 aluminum tubing. Rear wheel looks to me to be a steel replacement off a low end bike. Looks bigger than 21 1/2.

Rare 1971 Raleigh Super Course bike, purchased in 1971, single owner, has all original parts (except for front tire and tape on handle bar), very lightly used (less than approx. 300 km over entire life of bike) and in excellent condition.

Manufactured at the Raleigh Carlton factory in the UK.

Serial No: WS4005419
Colour – Bronze green
Frame – 21 ½” made of 531 Reynolds aluminum tubing
27" × 1-1/4" alloy rims with Raleigh proprietary threading used in bikes built at the Nottingham factory
Wide flange hubs
10-speed Huret gears
Fork with chrome ends
G. B. handle bar and stem
Weinmann (Vainqueur 999) 610 center-pull brakes on front, and Weinmann (Vainqueur 999) 750 on rear
Champion narrow seat - Brooks B-17

So if this is a single owner bike he should have been the one to replace the rear wheel. But apparently that is an original part... because the only thing not original is the front tire and handlebar tape. And Reynolds 531 aluminum tubing? I'm getting a headache.

My brother had one of these Panasonics as a kid. The top tube bend is to lower the stand-over height.

Some good photos here. Otherwise it might almost qualify for the "are you looking" thread.

Celeste Green Bianchi Road Bike - $275

Note photos 2, 5, 9, & 10 all show a grungy rear derailleur (upside-down), but I think the photos may be subtly different.

Photos 6, 8, & 11 show slightly different left front views.

Apparently the local department store ran out of soap and rags.

This guy is practically giving away his early 90's GT Timberline, asking only the best offer over $500 he can get. I mean, that bike has to be worth at least $35.

Funny story. The maker of this thing, "Zike" is literally headquartered less than three miles from where I live. So poorly received was this contraption here that they not only closed their flagship company store, but removed the signage from their building to avoid public ridicule. While not an entirely bad design, the problem is that their target market is primarily children and teenagers weighing no more than 150 pounds, as none of their products are designed having weight/height tolerances to accommodate the average adult. Furthermore, the Zike-Bike is claimed by it's makers as being an alternative vehicle for kids who don't like bicycles... and they wonder why it has been poorly received.

Sorry but that's a completely fair price IMHO. Handlebar position and no tubes and tires easily fixable.,,,,BD

It didn't sell at $350 last week, so add some awful purple wrap and tubes and bump it to $395. Sorry but this era of bikes have almost no value over the fact that it's a basic steel road bike with very meh components. Not special in any way at all. I tried to talk them down from the $350 last week, because a friend needs a road bike and it would fit him. I was told to F off.

It looks like the seller is trying to recover all of his upgrade costs. The bike is in nice condition and has some decent upgrades. It would make a nice commuter for $200 +/-.

I agree. I have a similarly upgraded Super Sport and it's great. But not for near that much.

Why is that wacky? It's a vintage 70's bike engine, and for a reasonable price. We had a rash of idiots buying Huffys from Wal Mart, putting 80cc engine kits on them, and asking $500-$650. Now that was wacky.,,,,BD

Well it is "literally bombproof", strap that to the front of an M1 tank and you got no worries.

Plus it has "an economy front shock and added grip shifters". Imagine how much it would be worth with a premium fork and triggers!

Good deal, actually. I had one of these in not-as-nice shape and never used it beyond starting it up when I first got it. Sold it for $100 and the buyer was delighted to find it. I had paid significantly less so was also happy.

Framed Pro-Elite 2.0 FT 21" frame brand new

Brand new hybrid bike Framed Pro-Elite 2.0 FT 21" frame and 29" wheels. I received as a gift and tried it out for a couple of miles and rides very nicely but is just not the type of bike I'd want (I don't ride that much anyway).

Very hard to say, it looks like the forks are pushed back. But the upper and lower headsets don't look parallel either. Could be bad or could be camera distortion. If I was interested I would request better pics and tell them what pics to take.
