Colnago multi tool?

Here’s interesting one. A 1980’s Colnago I bought a number of years had this multi-tool with it. I’ve looked high and low over the years for another one to come up with some type value or just see another. No luck. Nothing. Nada. Big mystery. The original box that came with the tool looks to have 199 written in pencil. Now maybe that’s in Euros. And could of been written quite some time ago or 5 years ago?. Any guess is good!

I'm guessing it's original to the bike. It has an 80's feel to it.

The way the black lettering is stamped on the yellow plastic looks a little off to me. Can't tell if it was originally stamped that way or maybe wear from sitting in the box.

Good comment. I pulled it of the box again and looked closely. The lettering looks to be some type of heat emboss vs a decal. I think the end where the lettering is a bit faded, is due to they way you grab the tool. When pulling out of the box your grabbing that end. And when you put it back in the box, you want to push it back in head first. When handling the tool, you sorta want to grab the end with the faded lettering again, so that faded look on that end is probably due to more wear on that end from handling. If original to the bike, that's a lot of years its been kicking around.... or hiding in that box!

Does that cover most of the sizes of fasteners on the bike?

I think the Cinelli stems use a bit of an oddball size. 7mm?

Price could be in italian lira, they didn’t go to the euro until 1999.
In 1985, 1000 lira = about 38 US cents, so 199,000 lira would be around $75US.

Regardless, pretty cool tool and case.

As I remember, Cinelli stems were 6 mm but TTT stems were 7 mm, at least my TTT stem was
Is the case designed to clip onto the saddle rails somehow?

"Does that cover most of the sizes of fasteners on the bike?"

Fortunately I have the 1980’s Colnago in the house, as doing some minor adjustments..... and no grief from the wife yet!

I pulled the little tool out of the box again, tried the big hex head on the Cinelli stem, and fits perfect. Amazed it was that easy right outta the gate. Never happens when your looking for the right tool!

Not sure what size hex head on the Cinelli stem, as I’d have to head to the garage and grab some more tools. As to the other heads, I’ve never tried them out across the bike, as I’m always grabbing some modern tool to do the work. Sorta of left it home in its little box.

Yes, There’s a clip set up that snaps into the saddle rails for the underseat bag.. Actually well designed.

That's probably it. I just remember something was always a pain, in a size that many sets simply skip.
