FS: 1982 Trek 720/728, Colorado

SOLD (Thanks for your interest!)

Serial number 032139.
22 inches
rough paint

$500 + shipping

Pretty much everything other than the frame and fork has been changed. It now has 3x9 indexed shifting.

Sugino XD600 crank (26, 36, 46)
Shimano Deore m591 SGS RD
Shimano Sora 3503 FD
Mavic 700C 32-hole rims
Shimano 600 tri-color hubs
Shimano Dura-Ace bar-end shifters
Tektro R539 brakes
Nitto Technomic stem
Brooks B17 saddle
Shimano HG 9-spd cassette (11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32)
Nitto Tokyo Grand Raundoneur handlebars

Because it was not designed for cantis, this is a good 650B conversion candidate.

I will include the Dia-Comp DC510 center-pulls, and what I believe are the original derailleurs: Huret FD and SunTour 5000 RD. Be advised that the derailleurs don't present well.

Yeah, I know, $500 is a lot, but I have $400 in the brakes and drivetrain, and another $200 in the saddle and handlebars.

Thoughtful build at a good price, very solid stuff. Look like Shimano BL -R400 brake levers.
I’d suggest you drop the bar angle a bit and shorten the rear cable loop, though.
GLWS!

@rccardr,

Good call. The photo was taken shortly after I completed the build several years ago. Both of those issues were subsequently addressed.

I cannot state with certainty which model of Shimano brake levers those are. I bought them from Rivendell roughly ten years ago, and Rivendell currently sells IBLR400PLA levers.

Very nice build and good looking bike. Agree that this would make a fine 650b conversion. Very solid choice of parts as well. This is a reasonable price for a top dog touring bike with choice parts. GLWS.

If it were 25”, this wouldn’t be for sale still. It’s at the top of my very short list for wants specifically because it doesn’t take cantis.

GLWS

ps - that’s about how my bars are typically positioned.

@mountaindave,

The 710 frame I sold you had the bars and stem originally on this bike.

My wife is still rocking that frame. She dented the top tube on a fence, but it doesn’t affect anything. I already have a 600 series frame as a backup.

PM'd you -- but we've already chatted via Craigslist. Look forward to picking this up for the wife tomorrow.
