1994 StumpJumper - Low Miles - value?

My dad bought this 1994 Specialized StumpJumper and immediately had the Marzocchi installed before it left the store. I think it's been hanging in the garage for 20 years.

I would guess it has 200 original miles on it. Original everything, including tires and grips and maybe even tubes. Paint is in great shape, except for some chain marks on the chainstay. Original seat (which I just installed) and rigid fork have never been used.

I was going to change out the stem, bars, grip and pedals to make it more rideable for him but then realized it was so pristine I should check to see if it's worth anything before riding it.

If the suspension fork is still in good shape, $250 +/- 10%.

Looks like it's a Stumpjumper M2. How much does it being aluminum change the value?

It's not just aluminum, it's MMC!

I sold one of those that was in much worse condition and had a rigid replacement front fork for $150 about a year ago. Of course with old MTB's, it is hard to get anything over $150.

What I have discovered is that for the most part on folks that buy bikes and don't ride them, it isn't because they aren't comfortable on them, it is that deep down they really don't like to ride.

snip . . .
+ 1. I see a steady stream of older high end MTBs going for $150 and under. Frankly with an older mtb, I think a rigid fork is more desirable than a suspension fork. Sourcing parts could be a problem for an old suspension fork.

FWIW, I think oddjob2 hit the valuation perfectly. I sold this Stumpjumper with MMC frame a couple years ago for $250, tho not with a Marzocchi fork, I think it was an XC Jett.

Thanks everyone. I love the looks of the bike and if it were a bit larger (it must be size small) I would keep it and use it for my Sunday trail rides. I think I'll swap out the original rigid as the Marzocchi is damp and probably needs to be rebuilt.
