Old Blackburn Workstand -- New Jaws
Since keeping vintage stuff working is in our blood, I decided to share this:
My old (+/-35 years) Blackburn workstand was in dire need of new jaws.
Being they aren't replaceable (since they are riveted in) and new ones aren't available, I bought a set of Feedback Sports jaws on sale at Amazon for $12.61.
As you can see, I lucked out and the new jaws were almost a perfect fit..
I had to drill out the rivets. But since they were "self adjusting jaws" and the rivets were installed "loose", I needed to jam a screwdriver under the jaw to keep the rivets from spinning.
The spacing was a little off. I had to make the holes slightly larger and file them into small slots.
Well, it worked out fine. If I get another 35 years out of this, I'll be pushing 100 years on this earth.

Nice retrofit. Real nice job on the slotting of the mount holes. Amazing that the stand is still in use and not resting in a dump somewhere. Our shop sold one of those stands back then and that was it.

Great job! I had one that I donated to a co-op after the blue disk that secured the rotation deteriorated. Nice to see that you have a cork replacement.
Very creative.

Thanks for posting, I still have 2 of these that I use. Yeah my blue disks disintegrated years ago, but pretty easy to fabricate another, just wander around a hardware store, and you will find something that works. If your stuck on blue though, good luck!

Thank for posting! I love my Blackburn stand - I have to see how the jaws are.
