Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was very nice up there today but got a little hot on the climbs on the return trip. Fortunately there is only 800 feet of climbing on the return. The coming home and getting out of the car to 100 degrees is a shock.

One time I was mountain biking and we were only at 4000 feet and the temperature dropped 30 degrees and it started snowing. I was totally unprepared, shorts and short sleeves, I froze on the descent and got hypothermia.

The doc offered that I might want to alternate this drug Ketorolac with my Percocets. I tried one today, but after reading the warnings i don't like the sound of this stuff. I might just stick with the narcotics, feeling loopy is better than feeling dead. Whatcha think, docs?

Looks like you're halfway padded up to go play wideout!

Ketorlac did nothing for me the time I was given it; I think for my gum graft.

Ketorolac has a reputation for being stronger than ibuprofen and it’s not supposed to be used more than 5 days. I doubt there is good evidence for either of these, but if you have normal kidney function I think it’s reasonable to try. Remember to take some fiber and/or laxatives with the Percocet or you may get quite constipated. Heal up ASAP!

All true for ibuprofen, brother. Great drugs when you need them, but we use them sparingly in this house.

Lordy, ain't that the truth. A few years back, my PCP prescribed me, I think, Norco for a particularly painful kidney stone. The first day was great! Pain much reduced, felt generally good. Second day? No kidney stone pain, but I felt just lousy, so I didn't take another one.

Three days later, I finally pooped.

They are both I9 hubs. The black ones are a "budget friendly" model called the 1/1, and the red ones are I9 Hydra. I went with the Hydra hubs and LB hoops. If all goes as planned, I should get them by the end of September.

Have you heard about the new Revel wheels? Using some kind of nylon instead of epoxy. Supposed to give a little, not be so stiff. And it can be recycled, they say.

Didn’t get to close today. It’s been one hell of an emotional roller coaster.

Not sure what color the bike is but I like the red hubs.

I did look at those, but they cost twice as much as the Light Bicycle wheelset.

Yes they are pricey but I thought it was interesting how they are using different materials hoping to make a more durable wheel. I also read Enve said they have a less than 2% failure rate on their M series wheels including defects and crash damage or customer error. Carbon mtb rims have come a long way.

basically paper work was needed from my job last minute and it didn’t get done in a timely manner. Closing tomorrow morning but the process has jacked up what I was hoping to get done before I go back to work. I say emotional roller coaster becuase it went back and forth between closing and not closing for a couple of hours. If this is the worse that happens i’ll take it, still bummed though.

I was also looking at Enve AM30 wheelsets, but they don't offer them with I9 Hydra hubs, and they are a little porky
