Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

London gets the Fixed Gear bug

I'm seeing more SS and FG bikes in London every time I go now. I'm always on my Raleigh 20 if I'm there, so I don't get what you'd call "Mad props" off these guys! Anyway, saw this in Islington.

I'd say one bike out of 10 in the East End (of London) is a fixed gear.
The Old Street - Clerkenwell road axis is like a rolling Fixed Gear Gallery

I just got back from Budapest and there were a lot of SS FG bikes there. Just go to Elizabeth Square on a sunny afternoon and you'll find them.

In Paris, I saw maybe one. I wasn't sure cause they rode by too quickly. Surprisingly I found a lot of people flip their drop handlebars and ride the drops up like a lot of homeless people do in Columbus. I don't know about you people, but I found that rather hilarious.

I was in london at the beginning of may and was actually quite surprised how few I saw. I was expecting to see a ton and I probably saw 3 all week. I see more than that on my way to work in Pittsburgh.

I'm traveling in London right now and have seen 100,0000,000 Specialized langsters and about a dozen REALLY nice italian and uk track frames
Also some neat bikes around the prologue/stage1 start
It seems there are more messengers in London than NYC though... any reason for that? I've seen some in almost every section of the city
My bike is in the states and its killing me

i dont know much about london but we stayed in south kensington, and we journied all over the place too, trafalger square area, over to where the hard rock is, over by the tate modern, we were at an area someone referred to as little venice, we were down by big ben and those areas, and also notting hill area. so we covered a decent amount of territory.
