On the other forums, they are always talking about how many miles they do, or how fast they do 'em. That information doesn't seem so relevant to us carfree folk. We ride, at least in part, because we have to, not to rack up the mileage. Also, I think many of us don't even own a computer, so we only have a rough idea of how far we go.

So, on how many days of the last year did you actually get on that bike and ride? Do you think that number will be higher or lower in 2006?

Everybody post, high numbers, low or medium. It will be interesting to get some kind of average.

Basically I ride every day. But I missed the first 14 days of the year because my arm was still in a cast. Also, I ride year round in my home town, but only in warm weather up in my second home, so take away 20 more days. The bike was in the shop for 4 days.

So, if my math is right, that leaves a grand total of

Practically everyday that I left my house since I went car free I either rode the bike to my destination or walked. So the answer is: a lot, but I have no idea what the exact number would be.

Every work day since October, when I moved to a new house. Before that it was 3-4 times per week fitness rides. 2006 will definitely be better.

Just about daily from March to November, except when travelling or on a non-bike related vacation. Yes, there were some of those. And once on Christmas Eve this year. Maybe I should move to a warmer climate.

I commuted about 130 days. I don't ride on ice, so I took public transit another 65 or so days, and I work out of town about 25 days per year. This year I commuted by bike on 4 days when I was out of town. Most spring to fall weekends I get on the bike on at least one and usually both days, so total about 185 days, probably.

I found I missed 72 days out of 365 possible. Way too many. Various reasons. Got hit by car in January and it took nearly 10 days before I presented a new bicycle for myself. Where the remaining 62 days went to? I thought I rode a lot more frequently before I saw my stats. No goals set for the year 2006. Every single ride last year was fun. My ears burn when I write this as I haven't ridden a single mile this year yet.

I missed a lot of days due to bike overhaul, the 2004-5 Buffalo winter (I tend to walk more in wintertime), and scouting out and moving to California last summer. I don't count my days on a bike, so I can't even begin to estimate.

2005 will be remembered for me as a watershed year for getting things done, but I really dropped the ball on loaded touring and bike camping this summer too due to finding work and getting settled in here in Cali - other than the actual truck move out here with my dad and camping the whole way along, I did very little camping. I saw America again from east to west, but not the way I like to do it. A whole week of interstate highways gets really brown, even if you're seeing majestic things outside.

I think these numbers are phenomenal. Anything over 100/year and you probably have the average roadie beat, if he rides only on nice weekends and occasional evenings in the summer.

virtually every day with the exception of some family vacations and business trips. in October i went to Boston for 4 days for work and didn't ride for 4 days. Then when my family visited for xMas i only rode 2 days in 10! which was really weird; although i did do a lot of walking so it kind of balanced out.

i ride every day to work and for 90% of my activities... and many/most of my "recreational activities" involve a bike (i'm a mountain bike guide for my 2nd job). so a realistic guess would be 320 days for 2005 on the bike! 2004 was probably a little less as i tore my ACL and spent 4 weeks on crutches (although i rode quite a bit one-legged before i could even walk!)

Every day that I was working or going to school I rode - then on days off I would take a ride. Ten days in August I was stuck without a bike or a home. Maybe another 10 days that year I bummed around at home and did nothing. Therefore,

I started riding seriously in may or june 05, but I don't think I missed more than one, maybe two, days a month since then.

2K6 will definately be better. not only am I more addicted, but I'm also keeping a log so I probably will be able to give an exact number this time next year.
