Obviously the Biopace chainrings aren't original.
The BB for GPX is 117mm while the length of your 105 BB would be 113mm.

I happen to have two compact triple cranksets here. Both square taper. So it begins. But it ends over on the Ironman thread. That's where we dwell.

Thanks Top. Did you put those rings together with the sugino crank? What are the teeth if I can ask?

Another option:

if your freewheel has an 11-tooth sprocket, I bet you could use an old triple crankset minus the big ring.

That would give you something akin to the ‘sub-compact’ that is all the rage.

I have just done this, and have 7-speed at the back (12-20 or 12-25) with a 42/30 crankset.

I replaced the chainring bolts and nuts for singlespeed ones.

That's a tough combo to beat, especially when you have something like a 12-28 on the back. BTW, if people are looking for Biopace rings, Sakae made the OvalTech and Sugino made the Cycloid. There are plenty of those sitting on the dock of E bay.

For the OP, here is a gear calculator to help with your choices.
