Reynolds 953
Anyone know when Reynolds 953 is going to be made "widely" available?

When people are "widely" willing to shell out big bucks for
a marginal "acvance" in tubeset technology.

Maybe a mfg will do something attention-getting, like Trek making a new touring bike--to replace the old 520--using 953. That might get things going . . .

I wouldn't mind an 853 or 953 bike just for kicks; wouldn't beat Ti though.

Yeah, that's the problem.
Say you're in the market for a new custom frame. You've got 2100 USD burning a hole in your pocket. For the same price and weight, you can have a 953 frame......or a 3/2.5 Ti frame. Ti will be marginally stiffer, have better corrosion resistance. 953 will be stronger, but flexier.
It's a tough sell and that's it's biggest problem. Everyone who contacts us about it expects it to be stronger, stiffer and lighter than the existing top-of-the-line steel, but the same price as the current top-of-the-line steel!
