That #180 Trek at least needs front brake pads, so there might be more there than meets the eye. I'd hope for just a missing pad the fell off veruses a bent front wheel and even worse a bent fork

YES!!! Definitely buyer beware . I totally missed that , I was just looking at the nice Brooks saddle and the overall condition of the paint. I think it is 531 tube. Good deals are sometimes good deals and sometimes not so much.

'87 Elance 400- 3 main tubes Reynolds. Missing front brake pad aside, it looks like it's in nice shape. I've got the same year/model, a bit larger- I picked it up because it was cheap, ended up doing a 650b conversion and I've been surprised to find that I end up riding it a lot. It's comfortable, capable, and, maybe because I got it cheap/it isn't a particularly 'fancy' bike I feel OK treating it a little bit like a beater. The paint on these is really nice IRL- there's a nice sparkle to the blue.

...if anyone is interested, the Bike Kitchen in Sacramento has a 58cm (23") Ross Signature in the original paint and Shimano Golden Arrow components from about 1985, I think. It was marked $100 yesterday, when I visited. This is the 292S, IIRC, so a pretty good, Asian made frame and a solid component group, for pretty cheap. Paint looked good on quick inspection.

This is not one of the Kellogg or Redcay made frames, but still a pretty nice road bike for a hundred bucks.

Check for their open hours, I don't know what they are any more.

1987 Raleigh Super Course in incredible condition. 58cm frame with slightly shorter top tube 56cm. Super lightweight 531 steel with mavic tubular 700c wheelset gatorskin rubber. Fresh cables and brake pads. Shimano RSX STI levers. Beautiful royal compe brake calipers. 105 hubs, shimano 600 derailleurs. Hand embroidered lemond saddle. Brand new cinelli bar tape. The list goes on and on, this bike has it all AND rides faster than most new road bikes. Steel combined with tubulars provides such a supple ride. (Pedals and bottle cage unfortunately not included). Spare tubular included! I’ve gotten plenty of miles on this bike, looking to pass it on and share the love. You really have to come see it yourself! Ask me for more photos, I have many. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks.

Holy Ned, that's almost my long-lost bike. Same model, year, color, size even. First "bike that doesn't suck" bought new in '82, from a shop just a few miles from that ^^^^ location. Stolen in 1990 while on loan to an overly-trusting relative. Most likely not the very same bike, as mine had the original BlueLine driveline; this one looks Cyclone-ish with the top mount levers. Hmm, my nephew lives not far from there, maybe he could check the serial number......

BTW from the photos, I'm doubtful this bike was "never sold". I see what appear to be marks of height adjustment on the seat post.

Interesting that it's right after the swap.... I could definitely use some of those parts, but I do NOT want a major lot to have to turn around and sell, just to glean the few things I need. I'd love to know who does buy it, and contact them about the things I need.

Its a shame this auction house has chosen the path of least resistance and done nothing to help potential bidders with shipping arrangements. Several of the previous auctions I have participated in have done that so that shipping details could be managed prior to bidding so you know a good idea of costs ahead of time. The last one a few months ago for the 600+ lots of Midwest Bicycle Museum ended up not being a great experience due to all of the additional auction fees, taxes, boxing and shipping costs. That being said if anyone in the forum can help facilitate, I would be interested in bidding on the Fondriest.
