Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No one says the 46 states plus 4 commonwealths.

Was he really appalled, or is that just click bait?

I currently have 30 large intertwined workbooks open.

The internet does that with me, generally. I will frequently get a whole page of instructions in French; once or twice in German. It thinks I’m in Canada, or knows I’m not in the US or Canada, and then just makes a wild guess. It can be entertaining, and it can be frustrating.

Luckily I had a travel tube of Crest at home to tide me over 'til I got out to Walmart to get some Aim. Sometimes I wonder how bad Aim could be to be less than a buck. I mean it seems to work? And it has the crucial screw-on cap, so when it starts getting low you can save it for trips (flip-up caps are terrible for travel).
I got tired of throwing away plastic tubes (former hippie) and switched to bicarbonate of soda. It also seems to work.

Some of the hippy stuff comes in metal tubes, theoretically easier to recycle than plastic ones. I've tried homemade toothpaste in the past, maybe again someday...

I came in not tired at all today. Maybe because I took the Paramount, for the first time in prolly six months. That thing is one nice ride! And it likes to go fast. Getting it ready for Bob’s arrival, next week. Bob rides a 63 cm frame, and this is a 62. He makes do.

My daughter often has that in her workflow. I don't understand spreadsheet people. I do know the autosum function.

ya I use Cycling Analytics. Better interface than Strava and 8 bucks/month. Can't seem to find a VO2 estimator tool though, I'll report back if I do

I was hoping for a good long "epic" bike ride with my friends for Saturday.

Now the weather forecast is for not one, but TWO inches of rain. No riding.

Yikes!

I myself had foolishly taken for granted that, because it's been so beautiful and spring-like the last week or so, that winter was over, and there would be little or no rain from here on out. T'ain't so.

I was hoping for a nice ride Saturday but rain is predicted here, too. Could be light enough to get out there, though.

You could always ride Four Horseman, Uber Pretzel or PRL Full, those are pretty epic

Liz is going on her first overnight mini trip this weekend, so I will need to be wrapped up with my riding by 10 or 11 - then it's just gonna be me and baby for 24-36 hours. Wish me luck. Hopefully my SIL will come by at some point to make sure that Lilly and I are still alive
