Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don’t think I have my FD and crank installed properly on the Soloist.

1- when in the 48/10 the light / sensor on the inside of my Garmin pedals almost hits the chain, maybe 1mm to spare. I don’t thin the spindle is all of the way through the BB. I needed a mallet to install it, probably just need a couple more whacks.

2- I kept hearing a click when shifting from small to big ring. My crankarm is just so slightly tapping the front derailleur when it shifts (because of the slight over shift) This is just the limit setting most likely but want to get it figured out.

we are currently at 5” and looks like another 5-8 today, so I have some time to figure it out.

My Propel’s front 11 speed Di2 derailleur quit mid-ride. I assumed the battery was low but the lights showed good and my Garmin showed 60% battery left. Charged it anyway when I got home. Still nothing. Checked wiring and all seems ok.

I have extra wires so I’ll replace the front shifter wire but if that doesn’t work, I’m baffled.

E-tube says all is good.

Since no ride today mrs datlas and I are going for an early movie/lunch date.

Today’s movie is “The Boy and the Heron.”

I heard it’s good from my daughters but they are Ghibli fangirls.

Let us know how it goes. I have seen Spirited Away and own Princess Mononoke, both of which are great. Intrigued to see more of his work.

Reminds me, I should re-watch Spirited Away. since I have a daughter now. It is a coming of age story about a young girl learning how to be confident. I found it quite moving when I watched it a few years ago.

Will do. Suggest watching Howl’s Moving Castle if/when you get the chance.

Yes. The shifter has three sockets (only one currently used) and the wire doesn't 'snap' in like it's supposed to. I pushed the cable in and the FD worked so I pulled the cable and inserted it in the next socket and it plugged in like it's supposed to. All good.

Dang, the Domane e-bike is pricey. Tough break (in) for him.

Speaking of bike theft, my friend whose Seven was stolen last month never got it back, but he got insurance settlement for which he got a nice new Lynskey. He seems ok with that.

While we are catching up, my friend who got hit from behind 5 weeks ago is doing better by the day. Still has a broken arm, of course, and some pretty gnarly face and leg scars and cuts but is otherwise gettin along. His brain has cleared up; he was still foggy up until a week or so ago.

Aluminum Cannondale is a total loss though he might salvage a part here and there. Helmet is crushed.
