Are there any Polish component or parts manufacturers?
Hi,
I got the idea of building a birth year bike a while ago. I want to build the bike from the ground-up with everything (outside of maybe screws and bolts) being from 1987. Being Polish, I thought it would be cool to also possibly include as many Polish parts on it as possible. After trying to do some quick research on my own, there's not much I'm finding outside of Kross. This brings me to my question...
Are there any known frame, component, or parts manufactured in Poland in 1987 that I could start tracking down?

I would think there would be some. I read an article that stated Poland was one of the biggest producers of bicycles in the EU.

There is an ebay seller(s) from Poland selling a lot of 80’s Shimano components.
I would guess you could find a frame, maybe rims, handlebars, pedals, but I don’t think you’ll find any components (shifters, derailleurs, etc.) mfg in Poland.
There have only been a handful of mfg in the US that made drivetrain components in the 80’s.

The biggest manufacturer in Poland at that time was Romet, see the Wikipedia page in Polish here. On the Folding Bikes subforum, there had been many posts by Geepig who restores Polish folding bikes, see, e.g., here. He seems to have gained a lot of experience in restoring these bikes, so may be a good person to contact. However, he has not posted yet this year around here. Hopefully he is all right. His location is not far from the border with Ukraine, so the bikes might have slipped to a lower priority on the scale of things.

As with most bicycle manufacturers they built frames and used other people's components. Even branded components were often made by others.
Going to be a tough nut to crack to get components made in a specific country for a specific year/time frame.
1987 is still the communist era in Poland and likely any components built then were low end utilitarian items, not quality "racing" parts.

I have a 2015 Fuji Sportif 1.5 Disc that was proudly manufactured in Kutno, Poland (and designed in Pennsylvania).
Ideal Bike Corporation, which is headquartered in Taiwan, acquired a stake in Fuji about a decade ago, and uses their various factories to produce Fujis, including the one in Kutno.
