I just got this beauty. I was hoping it would be a tad bigger, because usually I ride a larger size. I think it is little too small for me but I really want it to fit. Anyway, the serial number is 9B42 I figure 84? It rolls on saturne rims, with phil wood hubs.(they have some surface rust) 6 speed. The components are a mix of suntour and shimano. Shimano xt cantilever brakes, with sun xce deraileurs and thumb shifters. Crankset is deore/maybe early shimano 600 triple? Shimano 600 headset. Not really sure what is original. Scott bars, diamond back stem. Overall it is in great shape for an 84. If someone could help me with what it is worth that would be awesome.

I am not sure what is original. I am not sure I have all the correct date stamped stuff, but I have old deerhead I could put on it. When I first when to look at it I was planning on putting drop bars and bars ends. easy. I am going to change to tires and see how it rides.

The super long neck is wrong and worth a bit on it's own take it off and replace with nearly anything that works and sell the to long stem on ebay for $50 may be more. Nicely working with right stem this is great bike just needs tllc. As is about $300.

I think more, fillet brazed Ritcheys get attention.
I have an Ascent, this is better.
really needs bull moose bars...
I think these handle really well.
when I was 20 years younger I scared lots of cat 2’s and cat 3’s on the hills with mine - riding tom slicks.
they were gobsmacked.

Thank you for the help. I looked on that old mountain website and the news was great. 1984 timberwolf fillet brazed... made by the man himself. I know stumpjumpers and cimarrons go for around 350 in my area. I was hoping it was a step above. I think the 300 is low, but I am def biased. The bike on pink bike looks to be in better shape. This one is still in good shape though.

I may trade it to a friend for a bridgestone MK 1 in my size. But, I was originally thinking the ritchey had more value. I know the bridgestone name is well respected. Anyway, any more info would be greatly appreciated.

for a Ritchey enthusiast, the crank set may be the only component aside from the headset worth retaining.
What you really have is a Ritchey frameset. The components work, but are not period and not really sought after. Phil front hub, good, rims, meh, rear hub... defaced.

I would say just go with which every bike is a best fit or buy the second and maybe good option keep both N+ It only takes 1.5 x 5.0 to keep ft a bike maybe less.

Well, the bike sold today for 500$ and I swapped out the wheels for another mismatched pair I had lying around. It was for sale for about three days, and I kept the wheelset. I would say I was under market based on the interest I received. I am wondering how to proceed with the sticker on the rear hub. The hubs are going on my 26 inch drop bar commuter. I think the hub in the front will clean up and the rear seems to roll fine. Just looks terrible. Thanks again for the help.
