I recently bought a hardtail. I have been out on a couple rides on it and come to the conclusion that 140mm of travel is not enough for the type of riding me and my friends do. I have a bike that I do not use that has rockshox lyriks on it. I attempted to fit by front wheel into the fork but it appears that the hub is too big for the fork. When I look at the specs for my bike it says that the front hub is 110mm x 15mm and that the fork is also 110mm x 15mm. The hardtail has the factory wheelset on it so I know that the front wheel has not been switched out for a wheel with a larger front hub. When I try to fit the wheel the fork lines up with the end of the hub but there are extra parts that come from the hub and extend the length (end caps I think they are called). Is there anyway to get the wheel to fit in the fork?

Take measurements, if you are off by 10mm I suspect you have a 100mm not 110mm fork. I am not a MTB guy but believe I have seen these forks in 100mm.

Are the ends of the hub the same diameter? Some hubs have a bigger diameter & prevents it from seating flush in the fork groove.

110 mm is the Boost standard. You need a boost fork to accommodate it.
If 140mm of travel doesn't suit you, you probably should have gone full suspension.

Your Lyrik is probably non-boost (100mm). I think around 2016 or 2017 boost started to take over as the dominant frame and fork spacing. I still have a hardtail with a 100 x 15 fork on it and if I wanted to replace the fork it would be a search for old stock...and most options would be shorter travel XC models. If you really want to use the Lyrik on your new hardtail, you'll nee a non-boost front hub.

My 2013 Lyrik uses a 20x100 hub.

The arrow in that pic is pointing to the endcap, which are often swappable to change axle type (15mm or 12mm thru or 9mm QR). Wolftooth makes the Boostinator to make non-boost wheels work with boost spacing, but not seeing the reverse, which is what you need.
