If I've been looking for 2 months for a frame with requirements
1) 62/64cm frame (I'm 6'4")
2) italian heritage
3) clearance for at least 32mm tires (prefer 35 but thats never gonna happen I think)
4) preferably original in decent shape

Add $100 estimated shipping, this would cost me $250 total.

Does this look like a good deal? My goal is to find a frame with the above that I can modernize (maybe forbidden here, lol), ie spread the front/rear to 110/130mm. This is my first project bike.

Thanks!
I'm 6'4" and that Bottechia is a little bigger than I like to ride. I prefer 62 or 63cm for the seat tube, 59cm for the top tube. (Of course, the seat tube angle interacts with the top tube length, so that is a bit variable.) If you don't already know your fit preferences, that Bottechia will likely be okay for you, possibly with a shorter stem and less seatpost showing. But you can survive that easily. The only big question mark in my mind for it is the fact that we don't know the tubing.

Where do you live? $100 shipping is a hefty percentage of a $150 frameset, if there's any chance of finding something locally. OTOH, big Italian framesets that fit 32's are darn rare no matter where you are!

I had one of these for a year or three not so long ago. Tange Prestige frame rode really well. Springy and resilient, what some might call planing, under my c. 83kg. Ultimately sold it because it was a shade too small and didn’t quite ride like the old race bicycles I’m used to, unsurprisingly given its 65mm rake and low trail fork. Vey good for the money, well built and durable paint.

Yes, everything from a Jefferson Starship album, wedding china (Lennox Aristocrat), sausage stuffer, gravy/fat separator, to a Della Santa road bike.

A relatively new one at that (threadless stem, indexed shifting, many cogs), so the dearly departed was likely adding to the stash relatively recently.
