Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Sucks every time and I never learn. I have a kick ass dura ace 16t puncture in my fingernail. Owie. Chain's clean though.

Naaw, I'm sure it's fine. Hell, I'm still typing like a pro. The cog and chain were almost new so everything's real clean. I hosed it down with simple green and I'm pretty sure that thwarts any impending infection. Fixed gear fun!

I nominate that to be the manliest damn statement ever made. Nothing like some good ol' SG eh?

I got my finger caught in the freewheel mechanism on my BMX bike when I was young, tore (not cut) the tip of my finger off.

Cut a nail clean in half and left my fingertip numb for a week. Spectacular sight. Was extremely lucky that it didn't get infected, under my nail was nice black grease. When my nail finally decided to come off I was in the middle of the bush on a minimalist 8 day camp. mmmm, hygiene.

My younger brother ran three of his fingertips between his chain and chainring when we were teenagers. That lesson stuck with me and I'm always careful around my drivetrain.

Of course, saying that means I'm going to lose a finger this weekend. Where's some wood I can knock on?

I can't understand how people can be this clumsy and somehow reach the age of 16. Esp. those who catch fingers in there repeatedly.
But yeah, congrats for not getting it quite chopped off and I hope you heal fine.

did it on my road bike 3 days ago. just a bruise, so I'm damned lucky.

i like those reservoir / rotating brush chain cleaners. much cleaner results, and no hospital waiting rooms

Just jammed my finger today.
Working on building up my first fixie, got my finger pulled into the front cog and chain.
A tooth punctured my fingertip, but fortunately missed the bone.

Went to the ER, waited for 3 hours, got a bandaid and left.
