Tis the season for peaches
we relax on the beaches
and dream bikes

Edit . Thanks bruce19 for the lesson in Haiku. Revised accordingly, the essence unchanged. Still love peaches.

One cannot write a genuine Haiku in English or American. The Haiku is a Japanese form composed of what is called ON. As I understand it, an "ON" is similar to an English syllable, but only has one sound. Most English syllables contain both a consonant and a vowel sound. That doesn't stop me, I still write them and include them on my blog all the time. The traditional Haiku is a simple, imagist composition of lines containing 5 "ON", 7 "ON" and 5"ON" and should contain a natural and seasonal reference. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, just fillin' in the blanks.

The more information the better. Thanks. I just Googled it to get more info and then tried to write one according to the definition. My first and only American Haiku or something like that.

A cycling Haiku for the Pacific Northwest:

Summer on the bike
So joyful in the late light -
knowing dark rain comes

A poet I'm not
Rhyming is just way too hard.
Haiku style for me.

Linear motion
from angular momentum
Moves cyclists hearts (under the assumption that Cy-cl-ists are three syllables rather than cyc-lists two... alternative using cyc-lists would be: Moves a cyclist's heart)

This last one is truer to the haiku spirit, I think... Edit: No, I think the first one is... Edit edit: ACK! I dunno!

One Haiku explained
Two ideas related
Three lines stand alone

Five syllables start
Seven syllables follow
Five more to end it
