1983 Univega Super Strada frame material

I've been told my 1983 Super Strada used a Miyata built frame which is the same
one Miyata used in their Team Miyata bikes. Would this be Tang1 or something
else and how would it compare to other steels?

If it's the same tubing as the Miyata bikes it would be Miyata Splined Triple Butted. Good stuff. Look it up.

In 1983, Miyata would have been using Champion #1 for these frames.

STB wasn't out yet.

While I don't have the '83 Univega catalog handy, The '84 Univega catalog shows the Super Strada as utilizing Tange Champion double-butted.

IIRC, the Super Strada that passed through my hands was Tange Champion #1.

My '81 Univega Super Speciale has Tange Champion #1 (Red => #1 before they got explicit on the decals):
